Sky are the favourites for what should be an interesting Team Time Trial of the season at Stage 1 of the Tour of Qatar. Sky have sent the big guns for this one including Bradley Wiggins and Edvald Boassen Hagen. Geraint Thomas rounds out a strong TTT team. The bookmakers agree and make Sky odds on favourites, best of 1.57 (4/7) with PaddyPower
Although Quickstep are second favourites we think the challenge to Sky will come from Garmin. We have no idea how the Trek Livestrong U23 team will go but at odds of 101.00 (100/1) it is surely worth an E/W bet with PaddyPower who are giving 1/5 odds for a top 3 place.

2010 Tour Down Under General Classification Betting Odds
The route of the 2010 Tour de France was unveiled today in Paris and threw us a race which back-loaded with some huge Pyreneean mountains and very little time-trialing. Expect the same contenders to be up there as in 2009.
The most complete odds anywhere on the web can be found on our dedicated 2010 Tour de France Betting Odds GC page with highlights being Contador odds on favourite at 1.83 (5/6), Andy Schleck second favourite at 6.00 (5/1) with Lance Armstrong at 12.00 (11/1). The bookmakers expect a repeat of last years podium. Ivan basso is expected to ride at 23.00 (22/1) with new World Champion Cadel Evans at 29.00 (28/1). The big surprise of last year, Bradley Wiggins, rolls in at a 34.00 (33/1) and 2008 winner Carlos Sastre now a complete outsider at odds of 67.00 (66/1).
The high mountains arrive on Stage 7 of the 2009 Tour de France and Alberto Contador is favourite to take the stage but the big question is whether the big GC rivals will keep their powder dry for later stages or realise this is one of the few opportunities to put time into some tired rivals.
We anticipate a break going up the road and go for Caisse d’Epargne rider Davide Arroya at 51.00 (50/1) for an outside Each-Way bet with Bet365
Betting on one of the GC contenders we go for Carlos Sastre at 12.00 (11/1) with Expekt and Unibet
Stage 4 of the 2009 Tour de France sees the welcome return of the Team Time Trial. After the much-hyped TTT in the Giro where Columbia-HTC turned over Garmin-Slipstream we anticipate a reverse in roles. There is one other name to throw in the mix, that of Astana.
After two days of 50km chasing and working hard in the finale of Stage 3 it’s likely Columbia-HTC, at best odds of 5.50 (9/2) with Bet365 will be a team full of tired guys. Astana will be a tightly drilled team, just as all of Bruyneel’s teams have been, so expect them to come close and they are favourites at best odds of 1.76 (10/13) with Bet365 . We go for Garmin-Slipsteam at best odds of 4.75 (15/4) with Unibet who, on paper, have an incredible line-up of time-trialists and will be looking to get one over on rivals Columbia-HTC.
Velotips goes for Team Garmin-Slipstream at odds of 4.75 (15/4) with Unibet to win 2009 Tour de France Stage 4 Team Time Trial
Following yesterday’s demolition of the opposition, Stage 3 of the 2009 Tour de France should bring another Mark Cavendish win. The bookmakers have Cavendish as such an outstanding favourite that not only is he clear odds-on leader in the market but second favourite Oscar Friere is at best odds of 13.00 (12/1). In other words – don’t put your money on anybody but Cavendish.
Velotips goes for Mark Cavendish at 1.67 (4/6) to win Stage 3 of 2009 Tour de France.
