Much has been made of the 2011 Paris-Nice organisers decision to include a longer Individual Time Trial but at 27km it is unlikely to have an enormous bearing on the destiny of the race. Look towards the final day where the main contenders will battle it out in the hills above Nice.
Last year’s race was one by Alberto Contador with Alejandro Valverde second, neither of whom is competing in the 2011 edition. We are likely to see a battle of the Sanchez(es), both Luis Leon and Samuel have shown great form in this race in recent years with Roman Kreuziger, now of Astana, also featuring.
With a heavy final stage Velotips is placing a bet on Samuel Sanchez at 21.00 (20/1) with Bet365. Sanchez has shown reasonable form so far in 2011, improved his time-trial ability, can climb and will defend for all he is worth on the final descent into Nice if he is in contention.
